Preparing the Way
Though it Seems Impossible
Luke 1:18-20
Read the Bible through:
AM – Daniel 5-6 : PM – 2 Peter 3
And Zacharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years." (Luke 1:18).
Dorothy was delighted when she became pregnant with her only child well past her 40th birthday. When the usual discomforts of pregnancy came upon her she smiled and said, “I know just how Elisabeth felt when she was pregnant with John.
Of course, Elisabeth was much older than Dorothy; and pregnancy seemed impossible. Her feeling were so ambivalent that she hid herself for five months (Luke 1:24).
God specializes in things that seem impossible. When He sends wonderful, seemingly impossible blessing to us, we should rejoice and praise His name. Especially at Christmas, we can celebrate the “impossible” fact that the mighty God who created heaven and earth became flesh in the form of a sweet little boy of humble birth to bring our salvation.
Thank You, God, for seemingly impossible blessings.
