Salvation Begins a Life of Obedience

Servants of Righteousness
Romans 6:15-18

Read the Bible through:
AM –
Ezekiel 47-48 : PM – 1 Peter 3

And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness
(Rom. 6:18).

The story is told of a small-town pastor who, because of limited budget, was sometimes reduced to cleaning the bathrooms in the church. No one thought much about it until one of his childhood friends came to visit and found the pastor cleaning the sinks. When the friend asked the reason for the pastor’s tasks, the pastor simply answered, “If Jesus can reduce Himself to losing His life for me, I can reduce myself to cleaning a dirty sink!”

Just as the pastor sought to serve others, God desires us to serve Him with a similar servant spirit and obedience from the heart. Obedience from the heart happens after being freed from sin. This takes place only when confession and true repentance of sin occurs. As we grow in our personal relationship with Jesus, we begin to have the mind of Christ and become the servants of righteousness.

God, I humbly seek to be Your servant in all I do.
