Forgiving Others
Colossians 3:12-14

13 “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”

Becky was a Christian when she married Walter. Walter’s drinking grew to be a problem in their first eight years of marriage. Many nights, he would stay out late drinking with friends. The next morning with a hangover, Walter would apologize. After gently reprimanding him, Becky would gently witness to him about Christ, then forgive him. This scenario continued for another five years. Becky lost count how many times she had forgiven him.

One Easter, Walter attended church with Becky; and after hearing their preacher present the plan of salvation, he accepted Christ. Overjoyed, Becky led Walter in prayer about his drinking; and he vowed to stop drinking – which he did. The power of Christ, along with years of Becky’s forgiveness, won the day for Walter and transformed their marriage.

Father, forgiving is hard for me. Help me to forgive others as You have forgiven me.
