Working With God’s People
Acts 18:1-4

“So, because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and worked; for by occupation they were tentmakers.”

As World War II closed, Brother Martin came from the city to preach at the little country church each Sunday. They couldn’t pay him money, but paid him with hams, potatoes, beans, and other homegrown food. There was no parsonage, so he stayed with church families on weekends. The fellowship was sweet when he stayed in the home of a nine year old boy. To that boy, it was better than listening to him preach. But one Sunday his sermon connected and young Jack Lawler, now the editor of the Texas State Trooper was saved.

Paul went to Corinth to preach every Sabbath to both Jews and Greeks. He stayed with Christian friends Aquila and Priscilla. They and Paul were self-supporting tentmakers. No doubt they enjoyed sweet fellowship as they worked together for God’s glory.

Father, thank You, for the sweet fellowship that comes from working with fellow believers.
