Ministering with God’s People
Acts 18:1-4

18 “So Paul still remained a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.”

A high school football player took chemotherapy treatments for cancer that caused him to lose his hair. Weakened, he could not practice with the team, but would suit up at practice and for the games. Saddened for their teammate, the players shaved their heads bald to show support for their teammate.

En route to Ephesus with friends Priscilla and Aquila to preach to the Jews, Paul, fulfilling a vow he had made, had his head shaved. He also did it to better identify himself with the Jews, thereby making his preaching more effective. Often Paul denied himself for the sake of the gospel. Freeborn Paul made himself a slave that his listeners might become free in Christ.

Father, make me willing to alter myself, if necessary, in order to minister to others.
