Making Peace in My Family

Read the Bible through:
AM –
2 Samuel 23-24 : PM – Luke 16:19-31

Responding to a Relative’s Need
Genesis 14:8-16

16
“So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people.”

Julie had just given birth to her first baby. What was to be a joyful time had turned into an exhaustive nightmare of colic. In the midst of her helplessness the phone rang; and Julie’s sister, Teresa, was calling to tell her she was coming to help. Julie’s independence flinched a bit, but she knew she couldn’t make it on her own.

Abram, too, had a relative in need. Lot had been take captive and all his belongings stolen. When Abram received the news, he didn’t say, “Lot’s a big boy, and he made his choices.” Instead he gathered 318 men from among his servants and went to rescue Lot. His mission was a success; and he brought back Lot, all his possessions, and those with him.

Lord, help me to be aware of the needs in my own family.
