Giving Unselfishly to God’s Work

Following Christ’s Example
2 Corinthians 8:6-9

9 “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”

A retired couple wanted to spend their last years working in the town they loved. They invested their savings in a store with their house in the back. Upon completion, an electrical short set the building on fire. Watching the flames the wife sobbed that everything was lost. Just then the church bell rang out the hour. The husband hugged her and said, “No, Martha, what we gave to the Lord is still there.”

Jesus admonished His followers to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven … for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matt. 6:20-21)

Are you using your material resources as a means of investing in the kingdom of God?

Lord, set my heart on You, My possessions will follow where my heart leads.
