Committing to life

God makes trials endurable
Psalm 34:15-22

The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned (Psalm 34:22).

At 26 years of age, Mike lay in a hospital intensive care unit (ICU) for one month as the result of an automobile accident. Mikes mother, Linda, stayed nearby him until his death.

Late one evening the doctor told Linda that Mike was not going to live. In the early morning hours, after a visit with Mike, she wept as she sat alone in the ICU waiting room.

Brokenhearted, the thought of losing her son was one of the lowest points in her life. In a nearby supply room, a radio played softly. The station usually played secular music, but on this morning she heard the voices of children singing "Jesus Loves Me." At that moment, a wonderful peace came over her. She knew God was telling her through the song He loved her and Mike. Mike was in His hands.

Thank You, Father, for abiding peace in hours of trial.
