God Provides for His People

Something better
Hebrews 11:32-40

Read the Bible through:
AM -
Jeremiah 2 : PM – Ephesians 2

God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us
(Heb. 11:40).

In the devotional passage, we read that the faithful were subjected to horrific persecution for the cause of Christ. They did not receive the promise from God during their lifetime, but saw the promise of a better thing "afar off" (Heb. 11:13)

In 2001 Dayna Curry and Heather Mercer, along with relief workers from other countries, were in custody awaiting trial for sharing Christianity in the Muslim world of Afghanistan. This is a land ravaged by years of war and oppression. These workers risked their lives to spread the love and hope of Christ.

One cannot help but admire such courage and determination to spread the gospel. Imprisonment is not the only difficulty they had encountered in Afghanistan, yet they pressed on. The resoluteness of Dayna and the others should inspire all of us to embrace the "something better" that is to come to share the gospel with others.

Lord, protect our missionaries and give me the courage to share my faith in my world.
