TEACHING WISDOM
Deuteronomy 4:5-8

6 "Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.'

The Trinity College Library Dublin in Ireland houses thousands of the world’s oldest books. Among them is The Book of Kells, one of the oldest copies of the four gospels. It was produced by the monks of Iona in the ninth century. God has preserved His books of wisdom and the statutes He ordained so long ago for people to obey through the ages.

God, in His wisdom, through Moses, gave us the Ten Commandments – a perfect pattern for human-kind to live civilly, to love family, to be at peace with neighbors, and to honor God.

As this devotion is written, there is still war and strife in the Holy Land; and many innocent people are being killed. We can hope and pray that the wisdom and understanding Moses discussed surfaces again in that “great nation” very soon.

Lord, I pray for wisdom and peace to once again rule in Jerusalem and throughout the world.
