The Bible: The Family’s Source of Instruction

Read the Bible through:
AM –
Jeremiah 22-23 : PM – Colossians 2

God’s Truth Communicated
2 Timothy 1:3-6

5 “When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.”

How early in your life were you taught to reverence Scripture? Most children’s, even growing up in a loving family, only introduction to that attitude comes from their Sunday School teachers and their pastor. Their efforts receive no help at home.

Timothy was more fortunate than they. In his family, reverence for God’s word had been handed down from parent to child for at least two generations. Strong parental dedication to God’s truth resulted at last in Timothy’s becoming an ideal fellow worker for Paul. He was vital to world evangelism.

Paul wisely acknowledged his, and ultimately the world’s, debt to these two faithful women. Through teaching God’s Word in their home, they had helped make the gospel more available to the lost Gentile world.

Lord, help Christian parents show their love for Your Word by teaching it faithfully.
