There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling (Eph. 4:4).
Have you ever heard any one say, "I'm looking out for number one"? For people to put their needs or desires above others is not uncommon. However the idea is a contradiction to what the Bible teaches. Today's Scripture passage reminds us that as Christians, we are all part of one body united by God. The hymn "We Are Called to Be God's People" expresses this idea of oneness.
We are called to be God's people,
Showing by our lives His grace.
One in heart and one in spirit,
Sign of hope for all the race.
Let us show how He has changed us,
And remade us as His own,
Let us share our life together
As we shall around His throne.

Lord, thank You for the hope we have because we are a part of the body of Christ.
