Endeavor "to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace"
(Eph. 4:3)

Our world can be a highly divided place. Think of the differences that separate nations and races, sometimes even to the point of violence and war. As Christians, we need to focus on the things that unite us rather than the things that divide. It's easy to see skin color, cultural differences, or economic barriers as dividers that are difficult to overcome. But as Christians, we all share one faith in our God. If we allow the Holy Spirit to have control in our lives, we can share a bond of peace society's differences cannot shake.

Unity and peace don't just happen by accident, even in churches and among Christians. We need to work daily at practicing patience and loving one another in spite of our differences. When we focus on our own needs and wants, we tend to be rather selfish. When we focus on God and His will for our lives, we can experience the peace He wants us to have.

God, help me do my part to be a peace maker in every situation.
