Sin: What Went Wrong?

Hiding from God
Genesis 3:7-9

Read the Bible through:
AM -
Psalm 112-118 : PM - Romans 8:1-17

They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
(Gen. 3:8).

My son didn't like vegetables when he was a small child. He liked sweets. Most of the time he would eat the vegetables he didn't like to get the dessert he loved. Once I instructed him to eat his peas if he wanted ice cream. He ate the peas (I thought), then happily gobbled down his ice cream and left the table. After clearing the dishes from the table, his mother picked up the place mats to wipe under them. That was when she discovered a neat pile of peas tucked away beneath the place mat where our son had been.

J's pea-hiding strategy worked for a while. He failed to realize Mom would eventually clean beneath the place mats and find his stash. But if a child's attempts to hide his disobedience seem silly, imagine the foolishness of trying to hide our sins from a Heavenly Father who sees and knows all.

My life is an open book before You, Lord.
