She was a good person. She was good to us and our children when we lived in Oklahoma. She had high moral values. Her family was close knit. When we first met her she was a high school student. She allowed us to tell her about Jesus and God’s plan of salvation, but she was not ready or willing to leave the faith of her ancestors to become a Christian.
We have not seen her for some time now. We can only hope that the truth she heard about Jesus and the stories she had read in the Bible will bear spiritual fruit one day.
She was a good person, but not a righteous person. Righteousness does not come by the law, whether Jewish, Muslim, or Christian. It comes by a right relationship with Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Father, may I never be guilty of thinking I am righteous just because I am a good person.
