CHILDREN OF PROMISE
Galatians 4:28-31

28 "Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise."

Adoniram Judson was a Baptist missionary to Burma in the early 19th century. His life is a story of the price he paid in seeking to take the good news to a hostile land. He was imprisoned in deplorable conditions. His wife and children died. Years passed without a single convert. The mission board members wrote deploring the lack of converts and inquiring about the prospects for the future. Judson replied, “The prospects are as bright as the promises of God.”

Isaac was a child of promise. Paul used him as a representative of all people whose assurance is based solely on the promises of God. Faith is believing and living on the basis of God’s promises. Judson’s ministry resulted in great numbers of people being saved. As with Judson the prospects are as bright as the promises of God’s Word.

What promises of God are most precious to you?

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your precious promises. Let me live in light of these promises.
