I recently purchased a portable DVD player. While I knew its purpose, learning how to actually use it was another story. In some respects, evidencing the fruit of the Spirit is similar to this situation. We know what the fruit of the Spirit is, but evidencing it in our lives can be totally different scenario.
We can take two practical steps in evidencing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. First, we must recognize and acknowledge that the fruit is not ours, but the Holy Spirit’s. They begin with Him and continue because of Him. Second, we must obey Christ’s command to imitate His nature. Evidencing the fruit of the Spirit is a matter of conforming ourselves to Christ’s lordship and character.
Are you evidencing the fruit of the Spirit? Seek God’s working presence in your life; then work with Him.
Please give me the courage each day, Lord, to join You in demonstrating the fruit of Your Spirit.
