Who Avoid Wrongdoing
Ephesians 5:3-7
3 “But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints.”

Paul offered stern warning against immorality. The temptation to commit sin is a constant threat to believers because the old (sinful) nature is still present within. A believer’s lifestyle may lead to poor choices that ultimately result in wrongdoing. Facing temptation is a fact of life; yielding to the temptation is sin.

Sin takes many forms and tears at the very fabric of our society. What is needed is a greater awareness of the disastrous effects of sin on the lives of individuals and families. It has been said that as the family goes, so goes the nation.

How can wrongdoing be avoided? First, be assured that no temptation is so great that God cannot help one resist it (1 Cor. 10:13). Second, heed the advice of James: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” (James 4:7,8)

Father, help me first to turn to You when I am tempted to disobey You.
