PRAISING AND PRAISEWORTHY
Acts 2:46-47

47 “Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

The early church in Jerusalem was both subject and object. As subject, they acted. As object, they received action. One of their actions was praising God. One of the actions they received was the praise of the people. While being both praising and praiseworthy, the young church experienced the thrill of seeing others saved.

When their first child was six months old, Jay and Earlene felt an urgency to find a local church and begin attending as a family. Their membership had remained in the respective churches in which they were raised. After visiting three different churches, they found themselves drawn to one particular church. They concluded the difference had to do with the apparent depth and genuineness of the congregation’s worship. The church that drew their hearts seemed alive with praise. People sang from their hearts. Their joy in the Lord was captivating.

Lord, I pray that the spirit of praise in my church will be winsome to all who worship with us.
