Worshiping God

BECAUSE THE LORD REIGNS
1 Chronicles 16:31-33

31 “Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, ‘The LORD reigns.’”

People of faith recognize and honor God for life’s grand experiences. She had raised one of her sons to adulthood, but he had never come to personal faith in Christ. The often-raised prayers of a godly mother persisted. Years later, her son made his public profession of faith in our little church. Seeing him at the altar, she raised her hands and shouted at the top of her voice, praising the Lord for His faithfulness.

Bringing the ark of God to its newly prepared lodging in Jerusalem occasioned high praise. In the span of three verses, David called out for the created universe to join in praise to God. David invited the people to join the heavens above and the earth beneath in declaring, “The Lord reigns.” The thought of the Lord’s reign demanded that the sea and all that filled it to roar, and the fields and all that inhabit them to join the rejoicing. Even the trees should sin out at the Lord’s presence.

Lord God, give me a fresh vision of Your majestic reign on high and faithfulness to answer prayers here below.
