The Good Shepherd

Read the Bible through:
AM –
Ruth 3-4 : PM – Luke 5:1-26

Resurrected By God
Hebrews 13:20-21

20 "Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant"

She said, “Johnny, we’re going to have to get out in the yard. I knew what she meant. Dig in the dirt. Trim bushes. Get some plants in the ground. It meant dirty hands and hoe-handle blister. It meant stir up new life. I wasn’t real anxious to get started; but, somehow, I knew I would. Just a month ago everything was withered – no movement, trees stark and barren, grass brown and dead. Now life is “busting out all over.” Spring again is daring to shout that Easter is a reality in all of life. God is at it again.

The writer of Hebrews said it all in a lovely closing prayer. He affirmed that the Great Shepherd, who died for the sheep, was raised from the dead. Just a short time before, there seemed no hope; and only God could do anything about it. Now the Shepherd is alive. Now there’s peace. Now the winter of eternal death has become the spring of eternal life.

Lord, make me perfect in every good work to do Your will.
