Praying About God’s Kingdom

Read the Bible through:
AM –
Deut. 3-4 : PM – Mark 8:1-10

With Rejoicing
Philippians 1:19

19
“For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ”

One of the greatest temptations facing Christians today is to believe we can accomplish anything if we simply take the right actions. This sentiment is particularly insidious because it contains some truth. The truth is that right actions are needed. The fallacy with this outlook is that it sometimes places the emphasis upon the mental and physical realms while neglecting the spiritual reality of our actions.

Paul understood that his effectiveness was more dependent upon the power of God’s Spirit than his own ability. He realized the tremendous power of intercessory prayer. He was confident the prayers of others would impact his life. He knew this because he had seen his prayers impact others’ lives.

We are powerless without prayer. Is that belief demonstrated in our corporate prayer life? How many people attended prayer meeting in your church last week? Perhaps we lack power because we lack prayer.

Lord, give me a heart for prayer. Teach me to pray.
