Praying About God’s Kingdom

With Obedience
Acts 16:6-10

10 “Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them"

Paul and His companions were eager to preach the gospel. With marked successes behind them, they tried to preach the word in Asia; but the Holy Spirit said no. Then they tried to go into Bithynia, but again the Holy Spirit would not permit it. God had other plans – plans he revealed to Paul in a vision. Once instructed, Paul’s obedience was immediate.

Success in many Christian circles today is measured in terms of activity. But we must not make the mistake of confusing activity with obedience. Activity is something we think we should be doing while obedience is doing what he has told us to do. We must not presume to work on God’s behalf without first getting His instructions. That is where prayer becomes an absolute necessity.

Once we receive God’s direction, we should not delay. Our obedience should be immediate as was Paul’s.

Lord may I be diligent to listen and quick to obey You.
