Praying that Pleases God

Prayer with Faithfulness
Ecclesiastes 5:4-7

4 “
When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; For He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed"

Spoken Words are powerful. With them we shape the lives of our children, reveal our character, and determine the course of our lives. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Jesus said we will give account for every idle word we have spoken. (Matt. 12:36). Idle words are thoughtless and empty.

How often have we sung “I surrender all,” but we really meant “I surrender some?” Or how often have we prayed “whatever You want Lord;” when what we meant was “as long as I agree with it?”

Let us be careful when we pray that we do not promise more than we will carry out. God does not exact promises from us. He does not force us to make commitments. He does, however, expect us to keep the vows we make. To do less is sin and will bring definite consequences (Deut. 23:21).

Lord, may the words of my mouth be acceptable in Your sight.
