Worshiping Reverently
2 Chronicles 7:4-10

9 "And on the eighth day they held a sacred assembly, for they observed the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven
days"

Missionaries serving in Russia soon become accustomed to solemn worship. Both state churches and Baptist churches, for the most part, take worship very seriously. Their desire is to be in the presence of God, which for them is an outpouring of self before a holy God. Sometimes this giving of oneself in worship lends to crying, hand motions, or physical bowing. These manifestations are usually hidden or suppressed in the public culture of the people but occasionally come out in worship.

Various Christians worship the same God in different ways. Worship is an act between an individual and God, as we realize who He is and who we are. The assembly of the worshipers is when all of the individual worshipers become one voice, worshiping God together in reverence and awe.

Is your worship, both private and corporate, showing the reverence to God that He deserves?

Father, teach me to more reverently worship You.
