The Promise of Heaven

Read the Bible through:

An Eternal Dwelling
2 Corinthians 5:1-4

1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens

I love to watch the world’s finest athletes contend for honors in the Olympic Games. Their sleek bodies are masterpieces of physical fitness, perfectly conditioned for strength and endurance. Like ours, however, their physical frames are vulnerable, impermanent, and subject to death.

Paul referred to our earthly forms as flimsy tabernacles – frail structures that house transient people. Life on earth is but a brief journey for people seeking permanent homes. In heaven we will have new bodies perfectly equipped for that wonderful life.

Think of it – we will be free of sickness, disease, and pain. We will never grieve or grow old. Our eternal dwelling place will be more glorious than we can comprehend. Do you have your place reserved? I hope so. I want to meet you in heaven.

Oh, Lord, help me to prepare for heaven and to share the good news of salvation.
