The Promise of Jesus Christ
Galatians 3:19-22
22 "The Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe."
“Free from the law, O happy condition, Jesus hath bled, and there is remission; Cursed by the law and bruised by the fall, Grace hath redeemed us once for all.” These words from an old hymn depict what God did for us through Jesus.
Every person is under the curse of sin. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”(Rom. 3:23). God promised deliverance from sin. Jesus is our escape from the curse of sin. “God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8).
The fulfilled promise of Jesus Christ causes believers to sing, “Free from the law, O happy condition.”
The true message of Christmas should cause Christians to joyously celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Promise, with a new realization of the meaning of His sacrifice for us.
God, as I prepare for Christmas, may I concentrate on the real message of Christmas: Jesus!
