Travel back in time with me to resurrection Sunday. Jesus had already paid the price for our sins and had emerged from the tomb, free from the bonds of death. He was now walking with His disciples in resurrection victory. So why didn’t He remain on the earth? With limitless power and authority, He could have established a worldwide reign. Sickness and hunger could have been practically abolished. Peace would be the norm. War and conflict would have ceased.
Jesus didn’t leave heaven in order to create an earthly throne for Himself. Rather, He came for the purpose of inheriting a spiritual throne. His supreme goal, even today, is to establish His reign in our hearts. He wants to bring us spiritual health, satisfy our inner hunger, and overcome the enemies in our lives. He desires to bring all conflict to an end and deliver an enduring peace.
Lord, may Your kingdom be a reality in my life today.
