In ministry I have crossed the paths of hundreds of Christians. Each of their testimonies has confirmed what I, too, have experienced: God often chooses to wait until the last possible moment before acting on our behalf. Sometimes, only when things appear hopeless does God intervene and open a door of opportunity.
Jesus delayed His visit to Bethany in spite of Lazarus’ mortal illness. He could have prevented His friend’s death. But Jesus had a specific reason for His decision. He wanted His disciples to believe and understand that He is the resurrection.
To wait a long time on God can be exasperating. We sometimes are on the verge of losing hope. But remember, the blessing of persevering with God is well worth it. You will know God in a deeper and richer way. God may be delaying an answer to your prayers because He wants to engrave something on your heart.
Lord, You are faithful. I will wait on You.
