The Bible: Its Value

Read the Bible through:
AM –
Leviticus 11-13 PM – Matthew 24.1-31

Enduring Despite Opposition
Jeremiah 36.27-32

32
“Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote on it at the instruction of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And besides, there were added to them many similar words.”

Fifteen-year-old Johnny’s father was not a believer. “The Bible is a book of fairy tales!” he would say. Johnny became a Christian and received from his pastor a new Bible. One day his father saw it in Johnny’s room. He flew into a rage and demanded Johnny get rid of it.

Johnny hid the Bible and would slip it out and read it at night. A remarkable change began to take place in Johnny’s life. He went out of his way to please his father. God’s Word, though physically hidden, came alive in Johnny’s life. Eventually his father became a Christian.

Jehoiakim’s destruction of the scroll seemed final. But Jeremiah produced another scroll containing even more truths than the first one. God’s Word will endure despite opposition.

Help me hide Your Words in y heart today, Father, that I might be a “living epistle” for You.
