SHARING ONE FAITH
Ephesians 4:5
5 “one Lord, one faith, one baptism.”
Paul set forth another trio of truths about Christian oneness. The one Lord is the Lord Jesus Christ. The one faith is our common way of coming to that one Lord. The one baptism is the appointed way for confessing publicly the one faith in the one Savior. All Christians have in common a personal, saving faith in Jesus.
On a given Sunday I can look around at my church family. Some members of that family are rather young; others are in their senior years. The members have a wide range of educational backgrounds. Family units complete with father, mother, and children, are part of the gathered membership. Some, however, come from broken families. Many are married, but some are single. Some are retired; others are still in the midst of their work careers. Both working moms and stay-at-home moms are present. The list of differences could be extended indefinitely. However, members have in common their trust in Jesus as Savior.
Dear Savior, keep me constantly aware that as You live in me, so You live in every other member of my church, as we share one faith.
