I know a pastor who serves in an urban area where an estimated 90 percent of the people are unchurched. He decided that building relationships with people in the community would be the best way to communicate the gospel of God’s love. In one such instance building a good relationship took longer than expected.
For five years the pastor bought gas at the same service station while seeking to win the confidence of Sam, the station manager. Sam was a Filipino who had immigrated to the United States a few years earlier. Finally, on Christmas Eve, 2001, Sam accepted Jesus as Savior. The relationship continues to grow as the two meet each week for Bible study and discipleship.
The angels in heaven rejoiced that Christmas Eve because one who had been lost found Jesus. Do you know someone with whom you should share the gospel of God’s love?
Father, help me as I talk to lost people about Jesus.
