7 “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
The most cheerful givers I know are my former pastor and his wife. For more than 35 years, they served the same church. They loved the people and met their needs. Beside feeding us God’s Word, he often fed hungry bodies. His generosity inspired other Christians to participate in the joy of giving to hurting neighbors and to needs around the world. Today he is “retired,” but they serve in churches without salary until the congregations can become spiritually and financially stable and have full-time pastors.
“He who sows bountifully shall reap bountifully.” Jesus said about the seed sown in the good ground “But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” (Matt. 13:8). God plants His love in our hearts, which continues to grow until it overflows in generosity to others. They in turn learn the joy of giving, and the harvest in God’s kingdom continues to multiply.
Lord, use me to help multiply the harvest for Your glory.
