Praying for Laborers
Matthew 9:35-38

38 "Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

The population of the Burkina Faso tribe in West Africa is largely Muslim. The barren area over which they are spread is one of the world’s poorest countries – few rivers, no seaports, little rainfall, very hot. Water is a precious commodity. Helping the people dig wells has been a priority for Southern Baptist missionaries Clifton and Cathy Curtis. An agricultural specialist from Mississippi, his skills endears him to the people of any village when he helps them dig and construct a successful water well. Later, he tells them about Christ.

The converts are few. Clifton said, “Yes, pray for more laborers to send forth to the harvests.” But he adds that the best laborers are the Burkina Faso people who accept Christ. These go forth under Clifton’s encouragement to other villages, teaching and preaching. The word of Clifton and Cathy Curtis are multiplied, the gospel is spread, and the harvest is increased.

Father, help the Curtis family develop more Burkina Faso laborers; and help me serve as a faithful laborer in Your harvest.
