Why is it important to be identified with a group? One reason is we feel the need to be recognized and accepted by peers. The early church had the challenge of integrating new converts daily (Acts 2:47).
Barnabas received a lot of recognition with his generosity. Ananias and Sapphira could have sold land and brought a voluntary offering acceptable to God. Instead they nurtured a bit of jealousy, greed, and selfishness and gave Satan fertile soil for their destruction and the disruption of fellowship in the church.
The time to deal with satanic thoughts is the instant we have them. First John 1:9 assures us that when we agree with Ggod about sin, He is willing to forgive and cleanse us. A clean heart before God allows us to be transparent before people. Now that is real freedom!
Lord, cleanse my life of sin so I may give a clear reflection of You.
