Sending a Savior

Into Humble Circumstances
Luke 2:6-7

Read the Bible through:
AM –
Habakkuk 1-3 : PM – Revelation 13

"And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn"
(Luke 2:7).

Years ago, just before Queen Elizabeth visited Jamaica, all the roads the Queen would travel were upgraded. This was only one of the many elaborate preparations made for her Majesty.

In contrast, when the King of Kings made His entry into the world, He came into humble circumstances, even rejected by His own.

Had we been on the planning committee for Jesus’ birth, we would have thought of a palace with sanitary conditions. But the Lord voluntarily gave up heaven’s glory for earth’s poverty and rejection. Christmas reminds that the gospel is the message of God’s coming in grace and at great cost to rescue us from sin.

Teach me, Lord, the way of humility for Your sake.
